[Psalm 18;32-50]
He gives his king great victories;
he shows unfailing love to his anointed,
to David and to his descendants forever.
Psalm 18:50
Today's scripture is full of promises
such as God arms me with STRENGTH,
keeps my way SECURE,
He TRAINS my hands for battle,
SUSTAIN and PROVIDE a broad road.
"It is God who arms me with strength" in verse 1
is repeated again in verse 39.
"you armed me with strength for battle"
But what caught my eyes was verse 40.
"He gives king great victories;
he shows unfailing love to his anointed"
God's love is active. It says He "shows" his love.
I put a line under this verse and wrote
"He SHOWS unfailing love" on the margin.
I wondered to whom I can show this love to today.
Lately, it's been so hot.
When it gets really hot, I don't want to cook,
especially in front of the hot stove.
So, naturally we've been eating
a lot of cold noodles with raw vegetables.
It's been awhile since we had any soup or casserole.
But after reading this verse today,
I decided to put a little care into the dinner menu.
I cooked meat and made soy bean casserole.
I also steamed cabbage.
When my son came home from work,
he smelled dinner right away.
He noticed a lot of banchan which was more than our usual kimchee
and appreciated my cooking.
We were able to have a nice dinner together
just because I decided to "show" a little bit of love into the dinner menu.
I guess love has to be expressed after all.
